Welcome back!
In this episode of the DoubleBassCast I bring you an interview with Dietmar Engels - Principal Doublebass of the Coburg Opera House in Germany.
This episode is all about the Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra by Jean Francaix written in 1975.
Dietmar is a good friend from a couple of years ago when he came to sub in my section in Tenerife. He’s a great guy and I hope you enjoy his insights into the music by Francaix.
This is not a well known concerto for our instrument but after having spent time interviewing Dietmar and studying the score I realize that this is a wonderful piece that should be performed more often.
All of the links on the website have been revised… Please vote and put yourself on the NEW Frappr.com map (Link on the side).

Touching BASS! Its been too long since the last episode. Today I try to explain why and move on!
In this episode I try to explain why I’ve been reluctant to produce more episodes of The Basscast. It seems that I was infringing on a trademark belonging to another podcaster.
Well, hopefully with a new name for the podcast and a new website, email address and all the rest I can move on and start podcasting again about the Double Bass.
There may be some stray links and stuff so if you see one please let me know. I have tried to tidy it all up but sometimes a few escape…

Hi everybody!
This is the first basscast for DoubleBassCast.org. As this is the mission statement I thought I should talk about the following:
- Who am I?
- What is this?
- Why am I doing this?
- What can be expected in the future?
